It's been a busy month around HEX as the glimmer of the holidays dims and new activities begin to sprout up.
Plenty of site-wide events have been posted as of late, including the Ravenclaw's, “A Bad Romance” in honor of Valentine's Day, as well as “Who Wants to be a Galleonaire?” hosted by the Slytherins. “A Bad Romance” had quite the stir going on as it opened up, as people pitched their tents eagerly looking for RE's, which ended up including Hagrid's Aftershave, the Baby Abraxan Pony, and the Barrel of Single Malt Whiskey. Now that the RE's have died down, the SA threads and ISO's for these items are sprouting up all over the place, a natural occurrence, post-RE beholding event.
For the Slytherin's event, “Who Wants to be a Galleonaire?” the glamour is still at large, as the even it still mostly new. With many different contest choices, be it graphics, trivia, or role-playing, there are many rare Slytherin items up for grabs. The activity seems to be lacking a little in the chatting department, but maybe it's because everyone is scared of the evil Slythies. It could be the typically-Slytherin comments in introductions about the other houses scaring everyone away - or maybe it's just because HEX is pretty dead as of late.
Dead for many reasons I'm sure, one being the plethora of errors and glitches still pocking the lovely forums of our favorite website. For some, that's an annoyance, for others, it's like a game trying to find the glitches so they can report them. Kind of like hide and seek or a scavenger hunt! But hey, if you can find fun in trying to make sure HEX is back to 100% healthy, functioning shape, by all means. The faster everything is perfect again, the better!
The real thing in our spotlight for this issue though is HEX-erVivor. Having finally started, the race to win the Triwizard Cup is hot, and I held a mini interview with the host himself, Flying Batty , as to how he thinks it's going so far:
Me: How do you feel about the activity/participation of HEX-erVivor this season, as opposed to previous seasons?
Batty: I think, for exposure wise, this year is probably the best so far, thanks to the space ‘rented' (with no fees) out by KA (much appreciated). More people see what's going on, especially with the stickied updates. People I've never seen before start coming in to post and participate in tribe threads, which is always a good thing. You feel good seeing people from all over coming together, having the same goal, trying to win something, and then becoming friends throughout the process. Applications wise, there isn't too much of a different as compared to last seasons. But donations wise, this year is, for sure, stunning. Just 10 days and we got at least about 600k in items + galleons. So far, I'm pretty satisfied with the activity from this season.
Me: Are you happy with the popularity of the Hex-erVivor Fantasy League?
Batty: I am pleased with the participation this season> We made it so much easier to understand than last seasons, and thus had much more participation (about 350% increment in the number of participants) than last seasons. The point system is also done such that it is fair, and that anything can happen between two rounds. You can take a risk by having 4 members of your Fantasy Tribe from the same tribe (so that when they win, you win a lot of points) or have a diverse Fantasy Tribe (so that no matter what, you'll still gain points). There are so many strategies you can have to go around playing Hex-erVivor Fantasy this season - See some of them playing very strategically, which is a good thing, because Survivor is always about making the right moves and strategies. The prizes are also pretty attractive - not too much of a commitment can earn you a tenth of a million, lol. Personally, I love the bonus points question part, because that's what bring people to really read through the updates and earn those extra points.
Me: Lately, there's been a plethora of other reality TV series type competitions sprouting up around HEX, obviously eager to reach the prestigious standing of Hex-erVivor. How do you feel about that?
Batty: I am not offended about it or anything. It just goes to show that HEX-erVivor is successful that a lot of people want to reach that standard too. Ultimately, it is going to be be two different things - I don't seen another HEX-erVivor coming up in the near future in competition to ours. There was a Big Brother HEX some time back when, which went pretty well - I was part of it and I must say, it has different elements as compared to HEX-erVivor, so yes, it's fine. So long as people who make these contests don't copy a line for a line, but put much effort into producing their own reality TV game/competition, it's fair competition. I also see that there'll soon be an official Big Brother HEX coming up soon - that'll be interesting to see how it is in comparison to HEX-erVivor.
You heard it from the host himself. And what's this with a new Big Brother HEX? Guess we got a sneak peek of some great gossip to get you all talking, as well.
